Challenge & Background
Founded by the community, for the community, The Native American Youth Association (NAYA) is a family of numerous tribes and voices who are rooted in sustaining tradition and building cultural wealth.
As NAYA's 50th anniversary was a year away, NAYA decided to seek out a partner to help refresh their most important digital touchpoint (their website). Greenflag was tapped, and we got to work. The old website was lacking in community serving functionalities like mobile-responsiveness, first-people centric branding, and negative site structure.
Our Execution
Greenflag initiated the discovery phase by conducting several focus group interviews with the diverse audience groups that engage with NAYA. This process allowed us to identify the primary and secondary challenges that needed to be addressed in the new version. After this phase, we presented and received approval for our proposed wireframes and mockups. With this approval, we proceeded to build the new solution on a secure WordPress CMS. Once the front-end was developed, functionalities were implemented, and legacy content was migrated, we moved on to user testing.
We collaborated closely with the focus groups from the discovery stage to ensure the new website effectively addressed the identified pain points. This involved integrating feedback on user experience and accessibility, ensuring the platform was intuitive and easy to navigate for all community members. By prioritizing these insights, we crafted a digital solution that not only met the technical requirements but also resonated with the cultural values and needs of the community.
